IT Portfolio Manager
Our client, located in Roanoke, VA, is seeking a skilled IT Portfolio Manager to add to their team! You will be reporting to the Director of IT Portfolio Management, the IT portfolio Manager is responsible to Lead strategic project planning and annual budgeting. This is a highly visible position that has significant impact on IT deliverables and objectives. This is a full time, contract opportunity.
Managing of dedicated portfolio managers across the IT division.
Management of IT portfolio which includes facilitating the planning and the prioritization of complex IT projects on an enterprise-wide efforts. These may have significant complexity across many functions, and teams. Projects may include significant business process and/or technology change.
Facilitate and support IT project prioritization meetings within the IT PMO governance structure with executive level oversight.
Manage the development and implementation of IT project management methodologies. This includes managing IT PMO resource capacity vs demand and Cost / benefit analysis for IT projects.
Ensure IT project management methodologies (Waterfall and Agile) are followed across the IT division.
Manage the configuration and operation of the IT Portfolio and Project (PPM) tool.
Collaborate with senior leadership on creating the underlying PMO strategy, success measures (KPIs), projects expectations, and performance feedback process.
Manage project completion success/satisfaction survey process.
Lead IT Portfolio reviews with key stakeholders.
Provide "dashboard" reports for executive management and other stakeholders.
Provide proactive engagement and consultation to IT department leadership with respect to department projects, project management needs, and project performance.
Cross-functional team leadership to ensure effective teamwork.
Participate as an IT senior leader in the development and implementation of the IT division strategic plan.
Ensure project objectives and outcomes comply with IT PMO directions and goals.
Other duties as assigned.
7+ year’s relevant work experience as project manager building, deploying, and supporting enterprise information technology efforts within a high functioning project management office with at least 5 years in a supervisory role or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Commitment to client service with ability to set and manage client expectations.
Ability to analyze business data and procedures.
Proficient in various project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and their appropriate application.
Knowledge and experience with project management governance processes and functions.
Knowledge of IT project planning/monitoring methodologies/processes, design, implementation and documentation.
Documented experience and evidence of improving IT project management processes.
Experience presenting to and influencing across an organization.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience working with business/functional organizations.
Strong/excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to compose and present business and technical material to technical and non-technical audiences.
Strategic and creative thinker with proven analytical and problem solving capability.
Self-motivation, ability to work independently and to manage projects through effective communication, including analysis and persuasion.
Strong organizational skills.
High level analytical and problem solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to investigate complex issues and make informed decisions when written guidelines are not available.
Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks/assignments at one time.
Strong willingness to learn new technologies and lead change.
Knowledge and use of project portfolio/management software tools.
Successful experience and outcomes leading a PMO.
Experience supervising in a matrix organization.
Demonstrated success in change management.
