KEMBA Roanoke Federal Credit Union is a non-profit, credit union looking for a team member to join our Salem branch. Specifically, we are looking for an energetic, sales/member service minded person to fill the position of "Teller-Member Service Representative".
Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.
Promote, explain, and cross-sell other credit union services such as consumer loans, IRAs, certificates, safe deposit boxes, debit and credit cards, online/mobile banking services.
Maintain an up-to-date comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services that are handled or promoted by tellers. Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related polices and procedures, rules, and regulations for the teller area, including robbery procedures.
Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records.
Cash share drafts/checks and process withdrawals; pay out money after verification of signatures and member balances.
Receive consumer loan/credit card payments and ensure payments match balances due. Enter payments in to computer and generate member receipts. Refer delinquent accounts to the proper person if necessary.
Understand procedures for placing holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
Properly identify all members and non-members when necessary and keep all account related information confidential.
Assist with mail, returned mail, or email transactions, when available.
Answer front line phone calls in a courteous, professional, and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions. Respond to voice mails left in front line voice mail box.
Respond to member's requests, problems, and complaints, and/or direct them to the appropriate person for specific information and assistance.
Handle requests for maintenance, transfers, loan payments and other requests on members accounts or direct them to the appropriate person to handle the request.
Count, check, and package coins and currency.
Balance cash drawer at end of the shift and compare totaled amounts to computer generated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. Report any discrepancies to the supervisor if necessary.
Ensure the teller station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, etc and is always kept tidy and clean from the point of view of the member.
Check night depository and process transactions.
Assist with vault and ATM procedures.
Assist members with balancing their accounts, accessing online/mobile banking, setting up online billpay and remote deposit capture, accessing telephone banking, and ordering checks.
Assist members with opening certificates of deposit, IRAs, and/or sub accounts.
Cut loan checks, invoice checks, etc when necessary.
Assist with opening and closing procedures.
Assist with various operational procedures when necessary.
Assist with any other tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
Experience and Required Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required
1-2 Years cash handling experience preferred
1-2 Years customer service experience preferred
Prior sales training and skills a plus
Strong local ties to the community a plus
Proficient computer skills a plus
Attention to detail while handling multiple tasks a plus
Excellent verbal communication skills a plus
Team player and ability to interact with integrity and professionalism a plus.
Able to stand for extended periods of time/requires lifting bags and/or trays of coins and bills periodically.
