Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for a
full-time Campus Security Dispatcher. This
position requires work on a variety of shifts, which may include rotating or permanent
shift assignments, as well as holiday and weekend work. The current vacancy works 3:30 p.m. – 11:30
p.m. Sunday-Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Campus Security Dispatchers provide services 24 hours/day,
365 days/year to the university, and perform detail work ensuring the prompt
answer of incoming emergency and non-emergency requests for campus security,
police, fire, and emergency medical services units, along with other appropriate
university personnel, and the timely and proper dispatch of campus security and
other appropriate university personnel. Dispatchers monitor a variety of radio frequencies,
cameras, and alarm systems, and serve as a vital link to those deployed. They are also responsible for issuing
university identification cards, keys, and equipment and for maintaining
records and files.
Successful applicants must have a high school diploma or
equivalent, a minimum of one year of work experience with substantial public
contact, and excellent communication and computer skills. Applicants with public safety, campus safety,
security, or military experience are preferred.
Final candidates will be subject to a background investigation,
including a criminal history background check.
