The Wyndham Robertson Library at Hollins University is seeking qualified candidates for the part-time position of Technical Services Assistant. This position works 25 hours/week, primarily weekday hours, and there may be night and weekend hours during university exam periods.
Reporting to the Technical Services and Metadata Librarian, the Technical Services Assistant will create, maintain, and assist in the quality control of metadata for new material acquisitions and digital collection assets in order to facilitate community access to materials. This position will copy catalog books and films; edit and maintain records in the library’s integrated library system, institutional repository, and across the library’s digital project platforms; and assist in the implementation of the library’s digital content initiatives.
Successful applicants must minimally have an associate’s degree and experience working in a library or similar setting. Excellent communication and organizational skills, Microsoft Office proficiency, and a willingness to engage in ongoing education and training in cataloging standards and practices are also required. A bachelor’s degree and experience with cataloging and/or acquisitions in a library are preferred, as is experience copy cataloging and creating or managing records in a library ILS.
