Emergency Communications Center Director

The Rockbridge Regional Communications Center (Rockbridge County, City of Lexington and the City of Buena Vista) is seeking an Emergency Communications Center Director to direct the operation of the emergency communications center (911) and to manage the Center's public safety communications system. Work is performed under general supervision of a five member Rockbridge Regional Public Safety Communications Center (RRPSCC) Management Board.
This job performs tasks such as planning the Emergency Communication Center's programs and budget; providing technical consultation to the Board and regional public safety agencies; planning, organizing, and managing all research, record maintenance and retention, regulatory study and report preparation and submission; coordinating all Virginia Criminal Information Network/National Criminal Information (VCIN/NCIC) entries, deletions, and modifications with the regional public safety agencies; serving as liaison between various emergency services agencies at the Federal, State and local levels; ensuring compliance with applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, protocols, standards, policies, and procedures; and keeping abreast of new knowledge, research, products, and services in technology. The position requires the minimum of an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in emergency management, computer science, information technology, business, public administration or related field. Other equivalent education and experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement. Applicants should possess a comprehensive knowledge and skills in the management and operation of a Public Safety Answering point (PSAP) system; the development, operation, and maintenance of a public safety communications system; and strong leadership abilities in planning and supervising the work of technical personnel. An ideal applicant will demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively, analyze and evaluate complex issues and detailed information, and use sound judgement and independent decision-making when interpreting policies, programs, and rules for the public and assigned staff.

The salary for this position is negotiable based upon qualifications and experience with a hiring range of $51,514 - $74,626 excellent benefit package includes VRS retirement, health insurance, paid leave, group life insurance, and professional dues and conference expenses.
